Marrow & Garlic Competition

Planting by the moon begone! Planting by the Chun calendar is much more likely these days now that the gardening competitions are such a firm fixture in the family social calendar, the latest being the Marrow and Garlic Competitions on the 26 February 2011.

We were honoured to have a bona fide market gardener all the way from Pukekohe come down to judge the produce. Uncle Tom and cousin Kathryn said they enjoyed the day immensely and we are looking forward to their return visit later on in the year, hopefully with more members of their family!

Barman Ray obviously felt that Koko and Aunty Doris needed a stiff drink before the formalities took place.

Judge Tom announces that "Size Does Not Matter" when it comes to marrows, as quality takes precedence.

Aunty June wins by default for her garlic as it was the only entry!

Marrows or clubs??

Food, glorious food!

Mr and Mrs Marrow??
