Bill Young and his sister Dolly visited New Zealand in February 1973.
Bill met Mr Young or Youngsaye as he was often known as I believe through his brother Albert who was a director of the Hong Kong Yaumati Ferry Co.
Bill was in the trucking business who originally hailed from the West Coast of New Zealand.
We used to correspond with him frequently especially if we wanted something from HK as it was always cheaper and for the most we could never get what we wanted in NZ due to licensing restrictions.
I had him send me a Leica M3 camera.
I met Bill and Dolly when I went east in 1970.
Mavis was staying in HK then and was a frequent visitor to the Young's.
They were always very friendly and hospitable.
I think Bill Young was thinking of a possible place to move to as were many others prior to the Chinese Communist takeover of the Crown Colony of HK.
When he came to Wellington it was a typical chilly day.
Bill suggested he be domiciled in Auckland should he decide to emigrate.
Unfortunately he passed away in HK.
