Uncle Ray's 70th birthday celebrations

On the 28th of February 2010, a small gathering of the clan (for us!) helped to celebrate Uncle Ray’s 70th birthday at his place. We all know that Uncle Ray enjoys a good joke but we were convinced the joke was on us when he announced he was turning 70, for how is it possible for such a young and fit-looking bloke to be 70 – it’s just not possible!

A request from the Man himself for “No pressies - unless it’s a Mercedes for his garage” was taken literally by some of those assembled who ensured that’s exactly what he got!

The enthusiastic cooks among us got a bit carried away at the prospect of producing a Signature Dish à la Hottest Home Baker for the birthday tea, and the tables were soon groaning with several huge pavlovas and every other gustatory delight imaginable.

Uncle Ray was far too diplomatic to declare an overall winning dish so we all just got on with the vastly important Act of Eating and waddled home contentedly after a happy, happy day with Ray.
