Spring is in the air and what better to way to enjoy fresh spring flowers than to have them sprinkled amongst tiers of delectable little cream cakes, savouries and pots of tea.
A lucky group of us met at Martha's Pantry on Saturday 1st August to play ladies and gentlemen over a bloomin' luverly High Tea.
We did our best to keep our pinkies out and remember to use the cake forks, but the dainty morsels of food got the better of us in the end and many reverted to type (of the Chun kind) and just got stuck in!
We also celebrated Sharon and Jay's birthdays (Jay's is on the 1st August and Sharon's on the 2nd) which made the outing doubly special.
Martha's Pantry reminded me of the days when one would dress very nicely before going shopping in a big department store where there'd be a huge tea room with glass cabinets laden with cakes and sandwiches. What a treat it was to have afternoon tea with my mother after shopping in one of these stores.
I believe tea dances are being revived overseas. Will this be the next best thing?

My favourite things were the knitted tea cosies and the little cakes with rosebuds on the top. So did someone say our next outing was going to be yum cha? When? Where?
