Thank you to all Chun Family Relatives

Thank you to all Chun Family relatives for your messages and cards in regard to the sad passing of Mum and Dad (Marie and Bill). It was very kind of you all and we appreciate it so much.

It has been a very trying time for our families over this period. It is in our thoughts Mum and Dad are together again, in a higher state free from their tired worn out bodies.

We have been cleaning up Mum and Dad's Marina Grove home over the past few weeks. It had to be done and we all got stuck in together to tackle the task. One of the most difficult rooms to handle emotionally was their bedroom - so we all (Marina, Junko, Neville, Danny, Ashley, Brendan, William and Aiko) assisted with this room and it was done with efficiency.

Whist sorting out Dad's bedside draws, I came across a bundle of his expired NZ Passports held together with rubber bands. Don't know why but I started to flick through the passports, but not opening them. In the middle of the bundle was a very thin folded card-like item, completely different from the other passports. So I pulled this out from the bundle, opened it and discovered it was our Grandad's Chun Yee Hops Chinese Passport ...

Checking with Nigel, he confirms ...
Yes, this is his Chinese passport - issued (I think) by Chinese Consulate here in NZ. Not sure why they're needed or why he needed one in 1936 as he wasn't going home again. Perhaps he intended to but never got round to it.  Anyway it's a wonderful find and very historic.  Interesting to see the shop name 'Sang Lee' written in Chinese!  Also great to see another photo of him.
So this was a wonderful find. Dad never mentioned to me he had this passport of his Father.

Regards to all
Neville
